Virtual Private Server
I have covered Shared and Reseller accounts when it comes to hosting. Now lets talk about Virtual Private Servers. They are in fact a step in between a shared and a Private Server. You are still on a shared environment in a matter of speaking, but you can do more with a VPS compared to being in an shared environment.

Best things About VPS
Since I have been on a VPS for a while now, I can tell you one of the best parts of going this route compared to staying with a reseller account is the root access. I am now able to do a full server backup of all accounts that are on my part of the server.
One other thing that I do have control of is what sites use the same ip address as me. I have done a domain search and now the only webaddresses that I can see with my ip are the sites that I host. Before there are other sites on the server that I would say are not so hot type of sites. In the long run our sites now looks better when it comes to people looking to see what other sites are on our server.
Managed or Unmanaged
Let me tell you, you do actually have a choice between going managed or unmanaged. Unmanaged is where you have to handle everything including installation of the control panel and so on. I would suggest to go with a managed solution as its less of a headache if all you want to do is get your site up and going. It is well worth the extra money if it cost more than the unmanaged solution.
