The Merging of 2 Wordpresses
Recently I had come across a interesting blog post. The standalone version and the multiple user version are going to be merging together. When I had first started using wordpress, I started with the standalone version. As I found I needed more blogs, I ended up switching to the multiple user version. You see Wordpress to me, is more than just a blog type software. To me, it is a multipurpose software as you do not always have to use it as a blog.
My Opinion
To me, this is real good idea. The release of the two versions has never been released at the same time. Usually the mu version would take about a month or more longer to be released.

When will it Change
There is no date yet, but I suspect that this will happen with 2.9 or later as I did check out 2.8 standalone and it did not have that feature in that yet. When they do finally change over, it will definately be interesting. Right now in the wordpress community, there is a bit of confusion about this all. Some people are mentioning just merging the main site with all their other subsites.
I think from what I have read is that they are slowly trying to merge the two projects together to make them one in time. With the release of buddypress, that has changed a lot of things.
Most people run multiple blogs these days and by running one code base, makes life a whole lot easier. I like going from blog to blog and edit it from there.
I can't wait to see what really happens.
