Star Trek Roleplaying
61
People wanting to role play in the Star Trek genre has been around for a long time. I would probably say its been around maybe over ten years. For me the most common type of roleplaying is the ones that take place on some sort of forum. To me, I consider that creative writing. Other forms of Roleplaying that I know of is chat. I am sure there probably is some live action, but I have never seen it.
Is Roleplaying Dying
With the release of STO or Star Trek Online many of the Roleplaying communities have slowed down or died totally. A lot may have to do with STO. People do in fact roleplay in the game.
I actually do play the game, but roleplaying in game is just not my style. I would rather write than do that in game. I'd rather just play the game. I've seen people do just that; roleplay.

Do I Roleplay At All?
To answer the question. Yes I do. I have ran over the years different roleplaying games. Most of which have been ships, but I currently have a starbase RPG that right now, I am roleplaying with multiple characters of mine. What I am running right now is considered a fiction RPG.
I have run ones with other players obviously. I have never run a game without having multiples. I fact, I have always encouraged NPCs as it helps the story more.
In additon, I do simm on another ship. There is the good and the bad times when it comes to roleplaying. Its all in fun.
Star Trek RPGs are commonly known as simming.
