Dreamweaver For Beginners
Dreamweaver is not a walk in the park. Like many of the adobe line of products, it takes patience to learn. Some of them have some similarities on functionality, but some are a total different ballgame. If you are new to creating webpages, this is not something for you. You need to learn the fundamentals of webdesign first to really grasp what you need to do. It may be somewhat a wyswyg type of program, but you still need some sort of knowledge because if something goes wrong, you will know how to fix it.
Dreamweaver is A Complex Program
Yes, you heard it right. Dreamweaver is in fact rather complex. Even more so, for someone whom is just learning to create a website. If you expect to be able to create a website with Dreamweaver with no prior knowledge, you have been mistaken. It is not a easy program.
Learn HTML First
If you know the basics to HTML and even CSS, this will help your a whole lot. You will not be as nearly as frustrated with it if you know how to do these type of coding. It really is easy to find, if you know where to look when it comes to learning HTML. The editor you should use to learn HTML would in fact be coming with your PC if you are in windows is notepad.
Getting Started with Dreamweaver
Once you have mastered HTML or at least have a good understanding of it, you should be not ready to create webpages using dreamweaver. It is rather powerful. If you have knowledge of ftp, you know you can upload your webpages with dreamweaver. Its a nice feature that many like to use, if you actually understand how to use it.
Once you know HTML, you need to know what everything does. Think about what you have learned about html and put that into your page. You can now view things in two different windows. You can see what a webpage could look like and you can also see the source code that you had created for the webpage. Just get a feel of the features that dreamweaver has before jumping right in. In all, you just have to get to know the dreamweaver and just learn by trial and error. It does not do all the work for you, but it can help you get a decent website made.
Comments
I not sure what is the best. What people always suggest, I do not always think is the best. I have maybe at least one hub here on HTML and have wrote numerous lenses on html over at squidoo.
This one I have used over the years: http://www.htmlgoodies.com
People suggest this one a lot, but I never really liked it. http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp
I also bought a complete reference book to look up codes. There is a lot, but if you understand the basics, you should be fine. I still have to look things up from time to time as it may be be something I am trying to accomplish that I don't use much.
Hello Trekkiemelissa,
boy that name is long would you mind if I just called you mellisa or trekkie? any way would you happen to give me the name of that perticular reference book, I know thuis is challenging however I want to learn this so bad I will do what ever it takes to concer it, I don't really have interest in making it a business however I do have an interest in using it as a social forum for my state which Delaware and Pennsylvania, which is my neighboring state. If your interested I can tell you exactly what my intentions are. Even though I need to get into the legalities of it. Prior to my going forth with what I intend to do. And BTW i have quite a collection of treck badges.
